About Chronic Kidney Disease

Chronic kidney disease (CKD), which affects people of all ages, can result in chronic renal failure, its most significant outcome. More than 20 million Americans, or 1 in 9 American adults, have CKD, but most don't know it. Prevention or early identification of kidney disease increases the chance of slowing or stopping its progression, with glomerular filtration rate being the best test to measure kidney function and determine stage of kidney disease.
